March 8
Meeting at the Irkutsk
Transfer to Listvyanka settlement (65 km away from Irkutsk) located at the headwaters of the Angara River. Check in your Hotel. After lunch a guided tour to the Baikal Ecology Museum (*). Free time for rest and preparing for the next day trip. Dinner and overnight in hotel.
* Baikal Ecology Museum exhibits the lake's unique displays of flora and fauna: stuffed animals, a rich collection of minerals, different kinds of fish and other organisms inhabiting the lake.
March 9
Early breakfast. Transfer to the starting point of the trip. Packing personal belongings and gear on to snowmobile and sledge.
Start your trip eastwards The first 15 km of trekking will be probably the most difficult due to vast areas of black ice and ice fields. Lunch en route will be served on ice. After a short rest you are to cover another 10 km to your camping sight (*).
Dinner and overnight in the mid of Baikal.
* For this one overnight you will be accommodated in a cozy spacious double tent with a stove � comfortable enough to sleep in Subzero temperatures.
March 10
Breakfast. Early start since the last 15 km of the route are to be passed before lunchtime. As you come closer to the eastern shore there will be more and more snow that also is a serious obstacle to overcome.
Welcome to the Eastern side of the lake! Lunch in a local school cafe. Transfer to Irkutsk by van. Upon arrival check-in Baikal Hotel. Dinner and overnight.
March 11
Arrival to Irkutsk City. Transfer to your Hotel. Check in (*) Lunch in the hotel restaurant. City tour with the visit to the Cathedral of Holly Sign (**). Lunch downtown. Depart Irkutsk by an evening flight.
* Apart from ornate and rich iconostasis the cathedral is famous with its graveyard where you can see the tombs of Decembrist Mukhanov, Beschasnov, Trubetskaya and Russian Columbus Shelekhov.

Notes:

  1. Terms and duration of the expedition can change due to the weather factor and the ice condition. The exact dates will be fixed before the 1-st of February.
  2. The advance payment that constitutes 20% of the total cost of the tour is to be transferred 3 weeks before the expedition start.
  3. The route runs across lake Baikal from Listvyanka village on the Western coast to Tankhoy village on the Eastern side.
  4. Full board en-route.
  5. To save time during the day lunch will be served with dry food and hot tea or coffee.
  6. The expedition is supported by 2 snowmobiles with special sledges to carry food, equipment and firewood as well as personal backpacks.
  7. The route itinerary as well as all gear and outfit are state-certified for safety standards. The crew and guide guarantee your personal safety.
  8. All kitchen accessories are provided
  9. Satellite telephone for emergency cases
  10. One overnight to be spent on the ice in a big tent that is heated by a firewood stove
  11. Participants are responsible for their own outwear, including warm jackets appropriate footwear and other things. It�s desirable that participants have their own sleeping bags. It is strongly recommended that the participants have walking sticks and warm waterproof boots with thorns for walking on ice.
  12. The expected day temperature is 0+10C, but at night it can fall as low as �20C.
  13. The senior guide of Green Express Travel Company is appointed as the leader of the expedition.
  14. Since the senior guide of Green Express Travel Company is responsible for the lives and safety of the team, he is authorized to change or even cancel the trip in case of serious danger or disease of one of the participants. Such decisions are negotiated with the team, but the senior guide has the final word.
