“I am sure that the Festival will open up new perspectives for such a unique natural resource as Lake Baikal and the territories adjacent to it as well as it will enable this region to demonstrate its natural beauty, economic and cultural potential. Boris Govorin, Governor of Irkutsk Region The Organizing Committee of Baikal “Winteriada-2004” is glad to offer your kind attention Preliminary Calendar of Events of the upcoming 2nd International Baikal Nordic Games Festival “Winteriada-2004”. The Festival will be held from February, end, through March, end, 2004 in Irkutsk and on Lake Baikal, the world’s deepest, oldest and largest in volume of fresh water. Lots of snow, the Lake enchanted in solid ice, mild early spring weather with plenty of sunshine provide boundless opportunities both for the sportsmen and visitors alike to enjoy winter sports, recreational and outdoor activities of your choice. We invite you to participate in the Baikal Nordic Games sports events which you may qualify for, or see them, take part in the special activities the Festival offers, discover Orthodox Shrovetide traditionally celebrated in Russia, experience great Siberian winter on the shores of Siberia’s Pearl and Sacred Inland Sea - Lake Baikal.
